What's a Meeting like?

At your first meeting you may encounter:

  • A brief welcome to the group, during which you may be asked to identify yourself by first name only.
  • A reminder that Al-Anon is an anonymous organization and your identity is protected.
  • Reference to a Higher Power that some choose to call God. But keep in mind that Al-Anon is a spiritual program, not a religious one. Members are free to choose a god of their understanding and are careful to avoid imposing their beliefs on others.
  • No dues or fees. Al-Anon is self-supporting through members’ voluntary contributions. Although we pass the basket during meetings, no dues or fees are required and we ask that you be our guest until you feel Al-Alnon is right for you.
  • Al-Anon members who will be glad to talk with you and encourage you to "keep coming back."
  • A directory that lists the times and locations of meetings.
